Major Talent is currently seeking an accomplished Engineering Asset Care Manager on behalf of our esteemed client situated in Blackpool. Our client stands as a prominent figure in the international food industry, boasting three significant growth platforms across the UK, Europe, and Ireland, each adorned with a diverse portfolio of renowned food brands. As a rapidly expanding consolidator in the food sector, they’ve experienced exponential growth, reaching revenues of approximately €1.2 billion while nurturing a workforce of 4,500 skilled individuals across their network of 27 meticulously maintained manufacturing facilities.

In this role, you will be responsible for ensuring the reliability of our client’s systems, plant, and equipment through meticulous data gathering, insightful failure analysis, and the strategic development of predictive/preventative maintenance programs. Additionally, you’ll oversee service contracts, manage providers, and supervise the maintenance of critical building services including boilers, compressors, and cooling/AHU plants.

Salary – 55k – 65k depending on experience.

Working hours – 8am – 5pm

Location – Blackpool.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Establishing and maintaining planned and predictive maintenance programs for equipment and setting parameters for amount and type of maintenance performed within the programs.
  • Ownership of the CMMS and work request systems for Health & Safety items and Engineering work requests.
  • Developing PPM schedules for new and existing plant and equipment.
  • Working with the Engineering Planner to manage rotating equipment PM schedules, suitability and evolvement of the PPM schedules to improve reliability.
  • Responsible for reviewing and auditing of all PPM of maintenance related documents
  • To support commissioning activities and development of service / PPM schedules
  • To communicate maintenance plans and requirements to and from the team
  • Responsible for critical stock evaluations for new and existing plant and equipment
  • Developing and implementing condition-based maintenance programs
  • Co-ordinating with the condition-based monitoring programme and planning / carrying out all identified works.
  • Maintaining records on equipment histories and costs, coordinating with production and Engineering Manager for required changes towards increasing reliability.
  • Analysing records through the shift report systems, production shift reports and engineering weekly downtime reports, troubleshooting equipment issues, and making procedure recommendations to the Engineering Manager, along with implementing and amendments to PPM’s
  • Conducting root cause analysis for the purpose of identifying failures and implementing improvement initiatives
  • Co-ordinating the creation of the spares parts list and lubrication list for the entire plant in conjunction with Vendor recommendations and industry standards
  • Maintaining liaison with outside contractors, suppliers, and representatives of other companies on matters as general maintenance as well as compliance with standards, specifications, and regulations
  • Leading reliability & small CI projects as assigned by the Engineering Manager
  • Participating in cross-functional teams to optimise plant design, improvements, cost effectiveness,reliability, operability, and maintainability
  • Co-coordinating with contractors for all service and inspection works to include setting up and agreeing Service Contracts required for all new plant and equipment.
  • Preparing Permit to work and all associated documentation for contractors under the project function
  • Co-coordinating with Technical and Health and Safety Departments throughout project duration

Knowledge / Skills / Experience/Behaviours/Qualities

  • Full time served apprenticeship
  • Working knowledge of CMMS – Preferably Holistech
  • Strong educational background, preferably in a technical subject
  • Proven experience of working in an engineering & project roles
  • Demonstrated knowledge of understanding areas of quality control, health, safety, environment, and effective cost management
  • Strong IT skills (MS Office)
  • Ability to engage front line employees and mobilise teams in pursuit of common goals
  • Ability to influence cross functional working across teams/sites
  • Excellent organisational skills, including attention to detail and multi-tasking skills.

Accountabilities:

  • PPM Compliance targets achieved.
  • Site Asset register through the CMMS updated and maintained.
  • Service contracts delivered OTIF with no site compliance issues.
  • Improve OEE
  • Regular updates provided to the Engineering Manager
  • Maintain and improve compliance.

Health & Safety

  • Set and drive standards and targets for health and safety performance, proactively addressing unsafe plant, equipment, and activities.
  • Build reduction of energy and water use, noise pollution and CO2 emissions into projects at concept stage
  • Ensure all Health and Safety documentation is completed and recorded as required by law.
  • Ensure that all engineering regulatory requirements are maintained and reported on
  • Ensure that adequate provision is made in providing all employees with information, instruction and training in Health and Safety
  • Ensure all aspects of HS&E are captured with PPM work instructions.

Quality

  • Ensure the compliance, competitive advantage, and legality of the site with regards to Food Safetyand Culture
  • Ensure a customer focus mindset is maintained.
  • Ensure suitable capability is developed across product quality and standards.
  • Actively participate in Quality and Food Safety Audits as required.
  • Utilise in house I auditor software to manage actions for engineering department.
