Senior Measurement Technician
£24,000-£25,000 per annum

Major Technical is working in partnership with a leading manufacturer to recruit a Senior Measurement Technician to join their facility in Rotherham.

Main Job Purpose:
To ensure all metrology requirements of the company are met on time and reported

Principal Accountabilities:
To provide a measurement service by-

• Ensuring all components and finished products measured according to engineering drawings for Initial Sample Inspection Reports (ISIR) and Capability Studies using the following equipment: Vernier callipers, micrometers, optical measuring device, surface measurement machine, height gauge and coordinate measuring machine
• Entering the data onto reports for relevant departments
• Ensuring the data is available on time (to plan or promise date)
• Ensure accuracy and integrity of data and records, provided to others for analysis
• Support the planning and completion of product re-validation
• Maintain work area and equipment to ensure highest performance ability available
• Contribute to control of budget revenue expenditure by making efficient use of resources and taking actions to reduce waste
• Give full commitment and support for standards relating to training, health and safety, housekeeping and personal discipline

Job Scope:

• Supervises assigned temporary resources as directed
• Responsibility to support and contribute to quality improvement goals in line with objectives
• Provides advice and technical support to Purchasing, Design and Manufacturing supervision, regarding sample measurement procedures and services available
• Responsibility for making efficient use of section resources and equipment
• Makes decisions on the available accuracy and condition of measurement equipment Internal Contacts: Employees up to senior management locally
• External Contacts: Up to senior management level at customer and supplier services

Preferred Education & Experience:

• Knowledge of metrology techniques, standards and equipment (essential)
• Knowledge and experience in MSA (essential)
• Awareness of calibration systems and procedures (essential)
• Computer literate (essential)
• Educated to ‘A’ Level in Mathematics and Physics (desirable)
• Qualified to minimum L3 Diploma in electrical or mechanical engineering (desirable)
• 1 to 3 years relevant post course/apprenticeship experience in automotive or high volume component manufacturing. (desirable)
