We can’t believe it’s already been 6 months since we announced our charity of the year Maggie’s Centres! It’s been a whirlwind of excitement and fun-draising at Major, it’s gone in a blink of an eye. So, while you’re here get yourself a brew and put your feet up, and let us fill you in with what we’ve been up to. It has been a joyous and emotional journey so far filled with visits, new friends, exciting events, and lots of fun…as always!

Visits make the fundraising a lot easier

There are Maggie’s Centres across the whole UK (just like us), from Inverness to Southampton. We took our opportunity to visit some of their centres and see for ourselves exactly how amazing they are! These sanctuaries of strength are all individually designed works of art – that’s may be the architecture – but the true masterpieces are people inside! We left every single visit in awe of the amazing work they do.

This led to us setting up our “Maggie’s Heroes” scheme for the centres we visited. A Major employee who can help shine a light on that particular centre and get involved with the local fundraising and volunteering. So far, we have four heroes who are championing the Oldham, Leeds, Nottingham, and London centres. We have plans to visit more centres very soon (unfortunately, they will not allow Marketing to visit the centre in Tokyo!)

Firewalks to Fiery Feasts

As usual our fundraising endeavours have been nothing short of epic, and as always… We make it fun! Our very first spot of Maggie’s fundraising was back in September. Our Group Financial Controller Adrian conquered the Berlin Marathon in a blaze of glory! Luckily for us, he made a little vlog of his achievement, 26.219 miles – wow!

From the sublime to the ridiculous! Picture this: a fearless team of Yorkshire Major warriors striding across fiery coals in the Leeds Firewalk! It was a night of adrenaline, courage, and, let’s be honest, a few singed toes.

Next on the agenda was our ‘Outrageously Orange Day’! This was a companywide fundraising day where we all went even more orange than usual. From prison costumes to Fred Flintstone, our branches were a kaleidoscope of orange. We all managed to raise funds and awareness for Maggie’s in the most vibrant way possible.

Last but certainly not least, we will never forget the legendary “Dave vs The Ghost Pepper Challenge“. Let’s just say, Dave might have underestimated the power of the humble chilli. But hey, it was all in the name of charity, right?

More Adventures Await!

This is our quick opportunity to bask in the glow of our achievements thus far. Even so, we are still looking forward to the adventures that lie ahead. With the unwavering support of our Major Family and the boundless resilience of Maggie’s Centres, we know that the best is yet to come.

So, here’s to the second half of the year – may it be filled with even more laughter, love, and life-changing moments as we continue our journey with Maggie’s Centres by our side!
