DSV is a global transport and logistics company with a significant presence in the UK. They offer comprehensive services across air, sea, and road freight, as well as contract logistics and e-commerce solutions. Driven by a commitment to optimise logistics solutions, DSV focuses on enhancing efficiency, reliability, and sustainability for its clients. At Mercia Park in Leicestershire, DSV operates a state-of-the-art facility that serves as a central hub for its UK operations. The site encompasses warehousing, distribution, and office functions. This strategic location enables DSV to efficiently meet the diverse logistics and warehousing needs of its clients across the region. The site was completed in November 2021, with operations commencing in early 2022.

DSV Challenge

As the site quickly grew, the need for warehouse operatives and logistical support staff increased, leading DSV to engage multiple local staffing agencies. With high attrition, inconsistent focus, and frequent ‘no-shows,’ DSV engaged additional suppliers to fill roles. By the time we began discussions with DSV, they had four suppliers, with below average fulfilment and an attrition rate of 11% per week. In a fast-paced logistics environment, this high turnover required significant time and resources for training, only for a considerable proportion of new staff to leave, continuing the cycle.

The Major Solution

We demonstrated to DSV the benefits of partnering with a single, dedicated provider. Clients often worry that sole providers may lead to fulfilment risks; they fear having ‘all eggs in one basket.’ However, DSV was reassured by testimonials from other clients, demonstrating our proven track record in delivering reliable staffing solutions as a trusted sole provider. Our solution provides onsite focus with a management team working in close collaboration with DSV stakeholders. This allows us to directly oversee daily operations, respond swiftly to DSV’s needs, and provide fulfilment accountability.

Our team began implementation at the site in June 2023, seamlessly transitioning 94 workers from four separate suppliers. As none of the previous suppliers maintained an onsite presence, there was no incumbent team to transfer under TUPE. Therefore, one of our first priorities was to recruit an account management team. This was accomplished by our Implementation team with input and sign-off from DSV.

The Result

DSV has consistently gained new clients and is expanding its footprint at Mercia Park, acquiring additional units to meet growing demand. Our team is now fully immersed and embedded within the site, taking an active role in labour planning, training, and career management. Our close alignment with DSV’s operations has resulted in high-quality staffing, with at least 20% of our workers transitioning to permanent positions—testament to our understanding of the site’s needs and our rigorous selection processes. Average fulfilment now stands at 99%, with weekly attrition reduced to below 3%.
