Duties and tasks will include:

  • Set up and operate 5 Axis Hurco’s and a ROEDER using setting sheets.
  • Conversational program, set up and operate Hurco 5-AXIS to produce precise components to specification using WinMax software at the console.
  • Read and interpret engineering drawings.
  • Check your own work using a range of measuring equipment.
  • Completing one offs and batch work.
  • Ensure that production requirements are met in line with the production schedule.

  • a min of 5 years’ experience of machining with experience in Aerospace desirable.
  • Experience of working on Hurco is essential.
  • An ability to program and work with minimal supervision is a necessity.

Hours of work are Monday to Thursday, 10 hours between 6am and 6pm, Friday is overtime which will be provided on a weeks notice, and parking is available.

  • Appropriate Health, Safety & Environmental training and experience.
  • Computer literate in Microsoft Excel.
  • Experience of CMMs. Shire.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills – GCSE grade C or above in English Language.

  • Understanding of engineering drawings and principles.

The Role

We have a fantastic opportunity for a Fitter with HGV Trailer/Plant knowledge and experience to join our clients friendly team based at their Yorkshire Depot in Hull. Starting as soon as possible, this is a full-time, permanent role with 40 hours per week basic contract position, working Monday to Friday and reporting to the Workshop/Transport Manager. There are also plenty of opportunities for regular overtime including weekends. This is a vast and varied role. The role of Plant/Hydraulics Fitter is essential to our business and a key part of the Industrial Services team. The job involves general workshop duties of heavy plant and HGV vehicles.

About You

The ideal candidate will have experience in maintenance of LGV Trailer, site plant equipment, vehicle plant and associated accessories . Able to work as part of a team. The purpose of the role is to manufacture, weld, assemble and install piping structures used in conveying and handling the likes of food stuffs, powders, hot liquids and steam.

Key Responsibilities

  • Take instruction and guidance from the Contracts/Project engineer/ Workshop Manager and take the day to day responsibility and organisation of themselves whilst on specific projects on client’s sites and in the workshop.

  • Working in collaboration with the Contracts/Project engineer/ Workshop Manager and other team members to facilitate the delivery of technically challenging projects, on schedule and to the desired quality and in accordance with the site constraints.
  • Assisting with the installation activities across various disciplines and within the assigned team.
  • Working to maximise manufacturing output, maintain efficiencies and reduce costs, in accordance with project engineering schedules.
  • Working to information provided regarding internal manufacturing requirements and reporting back any shortages to the Contracts/Project engineer/ Workshop Manager in a timely fashion to allow efficiencies of design, purchase, and manufacture.
  • Work and adhere to risk assessments and method statements as to meet all legislative, business and customers’ requirements.
  • Interpret and adhere to customers engineering and hygiene standards and be adaptable to apply these standards to customer specific requirements.
  • Ensure any on site project changes are captured and communicated back to the Contracts/Project engineer
  • Ensure schedules are understood and workload is managed to meet the business priorities and objectives.
  • Courteous and informative interaction with customers as and when required and provide technical support during project deliveries and installations

Key Skills & Experience

  • Be competent (and confident) in the technical aspects of process engineering pipework manufacture, assembly, and installation ideally with a knowledge of special purpose machinery (gained within a similar industry or environment).
  • Experienced in hygienic stainless-steel purge TIG welding of dairy, sched tube and ancillary items such as brackets and supports.
  • An understanding of temperature-controlled pipe work systems.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings such as P&IDs, layouts, and spool drawings.
  • Excellent team working and organisational skills, being able to prioritise requirements to meet demands from project engineering.
  • Possess a good understanding of the principles of mechanical engineering and hygienic practice within the food manufacturing environment.
  • Experience in delivering solutions to technical issues.
  • Sound interpersonal and communication skills (verbal and written), with the ability to communicate at all levels both internally and externally with customers, suppliers and staff.
  • Experience of technical projects including working to tight timescales and meeting project milestones throughout the project life cycle.
  • Excellent time management and organisational skills, being able to prioritise requirements to meet differing demands.
