Job Title: Production Operative

Location: Newmarket CB8 7NR

Pay Rate:
£12.00 per hour basic,
£15.00 per hour overtime,
Weekly pay, Temp to Perm

Shift:
Rotating 8-hour shifts,
Monday to Friday, 06:00-14:00 & 14:00-22:00
(Saturday or Sunday once in a month)

Job Summary:
As a Production Operative, you will play a crucial role in our food production process, ensuring that products are manufactured, assembled, and packed according to specified standards. This role demands adherence to company safety, hygiene, quality, and cost procedures, with a focus on maintaining high standards throughout the production cycle.

Responsibilities:
– Safety Compliance: Follow all health and safety regulations, wearing appropriate PPE for each task, and complete tasks in line with Risk Assessments and Company Procedures.
– Hygiene Standards: Maintain high personal hygiene and adhere to company rules on hygiene, quality, and housekeeping. Ensure equipment and working areas are cleaned to company standards before production runs.
– Clean as You Go: Keep work areas dry and free from clutter at all times.
– Quality Control: Assess product quality, comply with product specifications, record waste figures, and rework products as necessary to maximize yield.
– Team Collaboration: Work with the production team to meet daily targets without compromising product quality or safety.
– Machine Operation: Operate machinery according to training and skill level, performing product changeovers and setting machines per company procedures.
– Flexibility: Serve as an operative in various areas of the production process to provide maximum operational flexibility.
– Reporting: Report hazards or defects to the Team Leader, raising Near Misses as needed.
– Traceability: Ensure products and racks are properly labelled at all times.
– Continuous Improvement: Support initiatives to improve efficiency, hygiene, quality, and safety across operations.
– Documentation: Accurately complete all relevant paperwork in a timely manner for all tasks performed.
– Monitoring: Conduct required monitoring checks, including temperature, visual quality, length, weight, labelling, and health and safety start-up checks.
– Issue Escalation: Escalate production-impacting issues and seek corrective actions and resolutions.
– Ad Hoc Duties: Perform additional tasks as requested by management.
– Punctuality: Be on the production line at the start of your shift, ready to work.

Ideal Knowledge, Skills, Experience:
– Experience working in a busy factory environment.
– Proven ability to work within a team.
– Proficiency in due diligence and paperwork completion.
– Allergen training.
– Level 2 Food Safety certification.
– Level 2 Health and Safety certification (including Manual Handling).
